Gmail was just hacked recently; brace yourself for a mass mailing weenie picks of yours truly. That is if they don't get posted in my unmoderated comment section first. Or on my hacked-into Facebook page.

What bothers me more than anything in this non-scandal is CNN's bringing Breitbart on as if he's got something to say that's worth hearing. This master financier of slice and dice hackery shouldn't be anywhere near an outlet that uses "news" in its name. Faux News being the exception since they won their lawsuit giving them the legal right to lie. Of course ~~Breit~~Darkbart built his own fig leaf into his position of trying to smear Weiner of pedophilia by dropping the name of someone else who's "been following the congressman."

Too bad the congressman isn't an appointee so Obama's crew can dump him like the other people and organizations that ~~Breit~~Slimebart has smeared.

Been a while since I updated this one. Needless to say, it's hard to keep up with all the dumbfuckery being done by republicorp. Those guys who care sooooo much about jobs. They do. Really. They said so. They want to protect medicare too. From dems. By destroying it. But I digress...

In the first three months of 2011, legislators in 49 states introduced 916 measures related to reproductive issues, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a New York nonprofit research organization that supports abortion rights but is viewed by both sides of the debate as providing reliable statistics on the issue. And lets not forget Florida regulating the wearing of baggy pants. Really important shit they're fixing down there. Cuzz the mid-terms were all about the economy. And Jobs.

Call me whatever the hell you want, but I would think that "the right to life" would extend at least a wee bit past the fetal stage. Maybe into what some people consider a person's life like you know, that period of time between birth and death. I wonder when these creeps and those that vote for them will realize this conundrum. I guess I should say "if" not "when."

So today... I sit here dreading obama's upcoming address. Will it be the near inevitable coup de grace to the democratic party? Or, as we saw after the first republicorp Depression, will the party rise from the ashes to undertake the rebuilding of the destruction they and their ally Obama have wrought? Will we finally see evidence of a spine from Mr I-can't-have-gridlock-I-have-to-govern? Or will he continue along that path, willingly settling for ONLY those options the republicorp legislation Czar, Mitch McConnell allows?

I hear so much talk of the possible political ramifications of whatever Obama happens to do or say, and NO talk about what's truly good for the country. In the last hours before Obama's last capitulation, the compromise that met republicorp ~~halfway~~ on their side of their line, Former president Karl Rove come out with the statement that they needed to avoid a shut down as having one would increase Obama's chances of re-election (as if that would be a bad thing for their goals). Not ONE single solitary fucking word about what would be good for the country; that a shut down would be bad, not (just) for republicorp, but for the country... people.

Fuck the political. Try for a change to do what's right. And by that, I don't mean do what's right wing.

I hear so much talk about how courageous Paul ~~Rand~~ Ryan is, by trashing medicare, fucking future generations to save them from crushing government debt by assuring them a crushing personal debt due to health care costs. I doesn't take courage to be a heartless sociopath. It takes a near unimaginable depth of mean spiritedness.

Will the baggers finally learn where their actions, supporting these wanna-be-serial killers, are taking them? Will they stop before frauds like Joe "unemployment is unconstitutional" Miller, Sharon "never mind that my husband and I live on government pensions/payments, we need to do away with them (for all of you)" Angle, Christine "I'm not a witch, I'm a professional candidate" O'Donnell, and whoever they intend to find to the right of Orrin Hatch... These are your "champions?"

More to my point today, when will Obama loyalists finally realize how insane it is to think about finding common ground with these people? The idea that we have a president who talks of finding "things we can all agree on," when the other side is crazy... Wall Street needs our retirement money. We must answer the call.

Don't accuse me of defending Obama; he's the asshole who thinks there's some benefit to finding common ground with the authors of this insanity, and thus fucking us. I'm just thrilled beyond ecstasy that he's meeting with congressional leaders on all this budget shit. After that great two-for-one deal on rich fuck tax cuts for unemployment and the slashing of social security funding he got us, how the fuck can we lose. Just like those tax cuts, I'm sure whatever capitulations he gives in trade for the bones that he hopes will make us believe he's on our side... he'll fight over in 2012.

I would agree with Dwight Eisenhower who declared that the killing of Social Security would be the death of Republicorp, but I don't think he could ave conceived of an asshole like Obama. With him on their side, there's no telling what Republicorp can destroy.

I usually don't add links with a lot of fan fare, but I received a request from a woman (who can identify herself in a comment if she so desires) asking if I would add a link to the Mesothelioma and Asbestos Awareness Center to my blog roll. What could I do? She asked.

As on who has dabbled in safety issues and a former member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, I can attest to the seriousness of asbestos (and other airborne contaminant) related illnesses. I know it's a legitimate cause, so visit the site, and if you know anyone who's been exposed to asbestos, say they built their house with Chinese made wallboard, refer them to the site.

Oh and if you even think that you have asbestos in your house, don't screw with it. Call in the pros. It can't really hurt you unless you disturb it.

Listening to Rachel Maddow's summary of the War Powers Resolution of 1973, it looks like Obama is in the clear / will get away with his actions toward Libya. (she starts at about the 6 minute mark) It all seems to depend on the limited scope of the operation. Vietnam anyone? Bosnia/Kosovo? Thing is, just like with our support of despots, we aren't good at limited actions. There's no money in them for one thing.

Before I digress: Is this... action a good thing? Yes it is. It's always a good thing when you're saving lives. Even when those lives aren't fetuses. Is it the right thing? I don't know. How's that for being decisive, eh?

The thing to keep in mind is that seldom is the "stated issue" the "real issue." Take the gay marriage issue in California. The "real issue" was, could the far right republican movement arbitrarily choose a group and deny them a basic human right? Just as a salad is a vehicle for blu cheese dressing, gay marriage was just the vehicle neo Jim Crowism. It's led to the republicorp assault on worker rights. Soon, we quite likely could se an assault on the rights of non-property owners. Your right to vote if you're homeless is already under attack; renters are likely next. So....

Back to Libya, and the basic question of, "WHY? ???" Oil? They supply only 2% of world supply. Terrorism? Don't make me laugh. The "they-kept-us-safe" guys took him off the master list of terrists and called him an ally in their war on terrists. Humanitarianism? Don't make me cry. We've stood back and watched throughout the Darfur genocide among others.

One thing, among the many that piss me off about Obama, is that everything this administration does is only done after running it through focus groups. After looking at the "political aspects." One reason Obama is doing this, and I fear it may be "The Reason" is that he believes it will positively affect is chances for re-election. Attract independent voters? Maybe. Gain contributions from defense contractors? Likely. Fuck the base; they've got no where else to go. And there's no money in satisfying them.

Scary thought that we have another president so cravenly self serving and self centered that he would do this, but it may well be so. But still... impeach..?

Soooooo much outrage over Obama's decision to follow a UN resolution on the formerly-Republicorp-desired No-Fly Zone in Libya. Now that it's happening, it seems to be hard to know what side to be on. Saving lives is always good, even after they're born, but why Libya? And why not Bahrain? Or Yemen? Or the Congo? Or Darfur? Or Burma? Or Rwanda? Or Bosnia/Kosovo? Or any number of former Soviet states in Central Asia or the Caucasus? We can't pick one country and make up for the lack of action in others. And we've never had a good track record in picking and choosing which despots we want to prop up. Karzai anyone? Or cut off. Castro anyone? Is this an Obama staff method of firing up the base? Doubt it. sooo.... What to do.

I expect Republicorp hypocrisy / ies and the accompanying media coddling. It's what they do. Both of them. It doesn't matter why Bush invaded Afghanistan or Iraq. By Republicorp party orthodoxy, they had to support him. It doesn't matter how, when, why or what Obama does with Libya, that same orthodoxy requires they they oppose it in some fashion. I expect all of that, just as I expect Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich calling Obama out on this. They're democrats, liberals, progressives. OK, maybe Nader's not a registered Dem, but they're people with actual moral codes, values and core beliefs. They believe in applying their own rules to themselves, unlike the other guys.

Among the many problems I have with this effort is our continual bi-partisan support of unchecked military spending. There's allllllways ~~room for Jello~~ money for wars. Says so in 1984. No money for schools. Or roads. Or our electrical grid. Or our water supply facilities. And NEVER money that would improve Social Security, or Medicare, or establish a universal health care system... by means other than (formerly) Republicorp approved corporate welfare. Gotta have those wars.

The hand wringing over all this misses the point: Executive power, and Obama's continuing embrace of Dubya style over-reach. Rather than raise the bar back to where it should be, where the president is accountable to congress and the people and the rule of law, he continues to be like or barely better than, Bush. He's repeatedly proven himself to be totally full of shit when it comes to him interpreting the constitution and Bush proved through John Yoo that you can find a lawyer/expert/quack to justify anything your twisted empty black heart and mind desire, so...

We no longer have standards in this country. If Obama should be impeached, then prosecute Bush, especially since he's confessed to committing what was considered a war crime post WW II. The same assholes who condemned Clinton for his blow jobs, fail to live up to their own standards: Newt, Ensign, Vitter, et al. In some cases they're glorified. If Obama gets impeached over this, so be it. But whichever way that goes, when will voters and backers of Republicorp and the Tea Baggers (sorry for the redundancy) hold their own side, not to MY/Democratic standards, no. When will they hold their side to their OWN standards? ???

Sorry for the lack of a link, in an interview with Rachel Maddow last night he admitted what we all know already: Obama's extensions of the Billionaire Bailouts will NOT improve the economy and that they are NOT good for the country, but that doesn't matter. It's still a good deal.

Somehow he and/or Obama and his bubblemates believe that in 2012, we will see that they don't work and we will see that they need to be repealed. in some way that isn't evident now? in some way that wasn't evident when they were proposed and passed in 2001 and 2003? or when Reagan passed his.

The utter stupidity of these people amazes me. Their willingness to insult OUR intelligence offends me beyond expression.

On David Gregory's ~~Meet the Press~~ Republifest, his panel of David Brooks, Mike Murphy and Thomas Friedman -- I'm not sure where on the spectrum Katty Kay sits, but I didn't hear her do much contradicting and correcting -- Murphy spouts the notion -- in addition to the nonsense of "Obama campaigned from the center but governed from the left" that Gregory continues to allow to stand as conventional wisdom and/or accepted fact, Murphy also spews that the republican prescription for winning a sweep in 2012 is that, "We can run the economy."

And he was serious when he said this. Honestly. I'm not lying. And of course no one contradicted him.

No matter that Reagan and both Republican president since has set new records for deficits. He quickly added: “But, because Republicans have made it clear that they won’t pass a middle class extension without also extending tax cuts for the wealthy, the President has asked Director Lew and Secretary Geithner to work with Congress to find a way forward. Those discussions started just yesterday and are continuing this afternoon.”

Hill Democrats were unimpressed and said Gibbs’s statement only served to reinforce their fear that the administration had already given up the idea of challenging the GOP to vote for the middle-class cuts – or let all of them expire by the end of the year.

But if a deal is really in the offing, Gibbs warned that it would come later rather than sooner.

Most times when you make an appearance on TV, I find myself in general agreement with what you have to say. However, when I heard you referring to a spoiled brat electorate, I got pretty damn pissed off, to put it mildly.

I have NEVER liked Obama. It has nothing to do with his color. It has nothing to do with his religion -- that's his business and his alone. It has nothing to do with his being a Socialist -- I WISH he was even remotely liberal. Which makes it (almost) needless to say that it has nothing to do with his having the most leberal voting record in the Senate -- A lie Pat Buchanan loves to tell and a true insult to Bernie Sanders.

I first began to hate Obama when he rolled over and supported the latest deformation of FISA. I found it ludicrous that he would use in his defense the notion of it containing an exclusivity clause stating that this was the only law regulating surveillance, or some such nonsense. I may not remember his exact words, but I remember vividly the scene on his campaign jet, and his gesturing, holding his fingers to his thumb as he explained this to Ed Schultz, who gave him a free pass on the issue. As if George Dubya SigningStatement Bush would obey the law no matter how many such clauses it contained. As if anyone with ANY credibility as a constitutional scholar would endorse a bill that gutted the Fourth and Fifth Amendments. As if anyone with any understanding of the constitution beyond eighth grade civics would not see retro active immunity for the telecoms law breaking as being ex-post-facto. Barack Obama wasn't the only one, but he committed treason the day he voted in favor of that bill.

When he claimed that he would gather people from the insurance industry, the pharmaceutical industry, medical experts, etc, etc to sit around the table and do what was best for America, I was not encouraged. I wondered if he was naive, stupid, playing on what he perceived as OUR naivete or stupidity, or just simply a liar. After Mr Gibbs complaints about the professional left, Keith Olberman played a clip of an Obama speech that laid out at least 6 promises that Obama later broke or just plain ignored during the Baucus Caucus negotiations. The one I remember most -- and the reason I did not vote for Patty Murray in our primary -- was his promise that he would push for the RE-importation of drugs from Canada. That promise that he negotiated away... In secret until it was revealed that he'd broken ANOTHER promise in that he was dealing with (a) Lobbyist(s)... in secret. The simple fact is, as it always was and always will be, is that no corporation is going to willingly negotiate away their profits.

Again, pointing to the phoniness of his Constitutional scholarship, he refuses to investigate, indict and prosecute the war crimes of the Bush administration, and defends those who "followed orders in good faith," I'm awaiting his pardoning of those convicted at Nuremberg, who claimed they were just following orders. More of his phoniness: He has looked for a way to continue with indefinite detentions of those Gitmo inmates who might be acquitted at trials. Even the North Korean crazy man doesn't hold innocents as "enemy combatants."

Full disclosure: I voted for Obama. Because he wasn't a senile war monger with the idea of not only continuing Dubya's irresponsible tax cuts, but making them deeper. The bar was set so high.

When the Congressional mid-term blood bath occurs, don't blame the unmotivated, disappointed, disheartened, betrayed democratic electorate. Blame the one who IS to blame: Barack Obama. HE is the one who removed Howard Dean who re-built the party through his Fifty State Strategy, in favor of... Oh yeah, Tim Keane. Almost forgot. Obama was the one who made Dean-hater Rahm Emmanuel his chief of staff. The one who calls us retards and tells us we waste effort and money when we support candidates who support OUR views: Bill Halter. Obama was the one who endorsed the one(s) who voted against him: Blanche Lincoln. He refuses to impose any sanctions on republican in everything but name Joe Lieberman. He refuses to push Harry Reid to call the republicans' bluff and make them actually filibuster. He refuses to answer to the voters who voted him in.

Faux News complains about Van Jones, with trumped up charges and lies. Obama abandos him. Faux News smears Shirley Sherrod, again with lies, he abandons her. Faux News smears ACORN -- say it with me now -- with lies and Congress gets in on the act of abandionment by writing a bill defunding them, WITHOUT any investigation or trial Obam signs it, further cementing his legacy as a Constitutional Phony for not recognizing it as the bill of attainder that it was. PLease tell him I think he's a phony. PLease, please, pleeeeeeeease. tell him Chris Harmatta who writes the little blog The Great Endarkenment, believes he's a phony through and through, as he now stands firmly behind Fox News darling Alan Simpson who salivates at the idea of gutting Social Security and Medi Care.

You must not play poker, Mr Robinson, or surely you would recognize that stance for the "tell" that it is: Obama WANTS to gut those programs as well. He's just too cowardly to do it himself.. He needs a "bi partisan" commission who's collective skirts he can hide behind. Maybe in their deranged hatred of the man the Republicans will unwittingly do the American people a favor and save Social Security by voting against the commission's findings, and Obama's wishes.

We certainly have no evidence that we can trust the man himself.

All right, so it's one giant step for me, one baby step for man kind. At best, but considering the fact that I never really wanted my own blog when I started... Thought I was leading up to a point, did you? Actually, Sitemeter already has me as past 10000 (10206 to be more exact), but they count differently than StatCounter does for some reason. Something in my settings; whatever.

Some might wonder why bother when a blog like Crooks and Liars sits at 391, 358, 351 hits. Hey, they linked to me a couple of times... mentioned me in the same sentence as The Rude Pundit once... BlueGal shows 842, 902 hits. She's given me kudos at least once I know. Daily Kos doesn't even bother showing their site stats, but they rank #7 on Sitemeter. I've always talked about averaging 6 hits a day... on good days. While I remember a guy I used to read bitch about ONLY getting 800 hits a day. He was a hell of a writer actually; I just got tired of his whine and cheese parties. I suppose I could be doing better if after every mention on a big blog I didn't become the proverbial deer in the head lights with writer's block.

I could look at myself as that one in the Apostle Paul's writing: The one who fights as beating the air, but I'd rather think of myself as defending my right to bitch.

I'm beginning to wonder if his "professorship" amounted to being a TA or proctor, handing out test papers and collecting them afterward.

Whatever happened to the truths that are self evident? That are beyond argument.? As plain as the wart on the end of your nose and the pimple on your ass? Barry and Harry... stop acting like jello-mold twins, and stand up for what's right. This issue is once again not about the "issue as presented." The fight over prop 8 is not really about gay people being together. The Arizona "papers Please" law is not about closing the border. Neither is the proposed repeal or reworking of the 14th Amendment. This issue is NOT about a mosque.

Freedom of worship is a right that is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the Constitution. There are no religions listed in that amendment. That being the case, Catholicism, Judaism, Protestantism -- whatever that is... everything from Quakers sitting still and quiet, to holy rollers and snake handlers -- deserve NO MORE protection than does Buddism, Hinduism, Shinto, Zoroastrianism, Pastafarianism, and NO MORE than Islam.

That is simply what this country is about. Or should be.

Obama has his finger in the dike. He's temporarily slowed the hemorrhaging of jobs, but has failed to reverse the ongoing trend of another Voodoo invention, The Jobless Recovery. Jobs are not creted out of thin air. They aren't created by rich people bored with sitting on their money. They are created by demend. Most of all though, no matter how many might be created, they must be retained, and this is done by underlying economic policy, not tax policy or "stimulus packages."

The economic policies of the conservatards, especially since Reagan, do not inject money into the economy, they draw money out. Wall Street is a DRAIN with their "financial innovations" that go far beyond stocks and bonds. We have an economy where money does not chase goods as in previous times -- too much money chasing too few goods equals inflation -- we have an economy where money chases money: a Paper Chase, unlike the movie. Nothing is created; nothing is left behind; when the value of the paper disappears, there is no collateral beyond more paper. THAT is why "they" need our social security trust fund.

Unless Obama can change this fundamental policy, this Paper Chase, and I see no evidence that he desires to do so, nothing else he does will matter. We WILL have a depression.

He signed into law another of his should-be-famous Marketable Reform-Like Bills that relies on one of his favorite buzz words: Transparency. Somehow it's reform when banks draw up and sell fraudulent documents powered by saiboat fuel in a "transparent open exchange." The reality is that just like turning the lights on in a roach infested room doesn't make the roaches go away; it just makes them hide. They're still there in all their grossness. The credit default swaps, with no collateral beyond a wink and a promise of tax payer money -- loan sharks include a threat of a broken leg in their deals -- are still there. In all their economy-draining glory.

A couple of days ago we heard non-stop outrage over the murders of aid workers in Afghanistan. Today we have a military tribunal -- like the ones Obama was going to revamp -- at Guantanamo -- the place Obama was going to have closed -- come down with a decision... A fifteen year old boy, probably with the belief he was fighting his enemy, accused of throwing a hand grenade into a group of soldiers, killing some. He was presented with a confession that he was told to sign, or face being raped until he bled to death. the confession -- coerced -- was accepted.

I'm not in favor of murder, of anyone, by anyone, but who is the terrorist here? The boy? Or the interrogator? Fuck, I'd sure as hell sign a confession to something I didn't do to avoid that threat.

That is NOT the way our legal system was ever intended to operate. What moral high ground do we have to protest any other nation's outrageous behavior. It's a myth on several levels of course, the first and foremost being that it's merely a code phrase for "We need more tax cuts and a bigger, nastier cattle prod for the assholes of the middle class." which is a bit redundant.

HERE is the problem:

Obama needs to fight for the repeal of the policies, treaties and other nonsensical shit behind the de-industrialization of the US. It makes not one fucking rat's ass bit of difference how or how many jobs anyone creates, as long as companies go unpunished, and rewarded, for taking them overseas. But we know that none of this will never happen since such a fight by definition would not be bi-partisan since it's the conservatard BeePeeblicans who WANT this mess.

This is why I term Conservatism (and the BeePeeblican party) to be a pathogenic philosophy. What are they going to do when they've bled all of the jobs and money out of the middle class -- the non-stock holder class -- Here? When they can n longer "Do us the favor" of selling us cheaply made shit because no one has the money to buy it? ???

Sure they're creating a new working class in China, of several billion more than here in the US, but at the (near) slave wages the Chinese are paid, will there be enough money to satisfy their greed? And will the Chinese Government allow the profits to leave? Will the Chinese Government allow for a mass migration of capital and jobs in the reverse to take advantage of the now-impoverished and destitute American work force? Ooops

I don't know how much of this conservative disaster I will live to see. Since Obama has agreed to allow the slashing of Social Security, Medicare and the deregulation of the protections my union pension has had through his Bi-Partisan <== proof that it HAS to be wonderful, debt commission and the G-20, it's likely I'll die starving and penniless, if I'm not killed for my house first. One of the biggest arguments against financial reform, and specifically reining in the derivative and credit default swap arenas --I can't bring myself to call them industries, as if they create something real -- was that those jobs would go over seas and to foreign companies. Now we hear
that we can't impose a moratorium on offshore oil drilling because THOSE jobs will go overseas and to foreign companies.

Where were these "protect American jobs" arguments when the cash for clunkers bill was passed? Where were they when the stimulus bill was passed? Why no "Buy American" clauses? Where are they in the California Senate race where the same Carly Fiorina who outsourced Hewlitt Packard and ran it into the ground before being fired with a golden parachute gets a free pass for being a total phony? (more on her later when the videos of her soft hands handling by David Gregory on Meet the Press come out)*

Fallacy No 1: Foreign companies? Foreign companies already ARE involved in our economy here. The London office of AIG was at the center of the credit default swap shit storm. And the oil company fucking up OUR coastline with their fucked up well on OUR continental shelf is BP: BRITISH Petroleum.

Fallacy No 2: Go overseas? In many cases these jobs/companies are already overseas and the companies are bringing their buttfuckerous practices over here. Do we really want to create or maintain a safe haven for those who have destroyed the foundations of the world's economies?

So what's any of this have to do with the Japanese? In their traditional caste system, the Japanese placed merchants and business people BELOW skilled craftsmen, farmers and fishermen, and above only the Eta, which if memory serves meant "much dirt." They were one cut above the outcasts of society because they were viewed as leeches, making their money off of other peoples' labor. Hmmm... like a hedge fund manager..? Who in this country is entitled to pay taxes on his INCOME" at the lower capitol gains rate, even though he's not making money off of his own money, but the money of others.

Regardless of the evils inherent in any caste system, for whatever reason we in America, or the ruling class that's come to be, have turned the idea on its head placing merchants in the place of the Samurai who, regardless of the evils their privilege allowed them, were the ones who defended the country. We have created huge numbers of unemployed, homeless and destitute for populating our own warrior class.

The Lincoln endorsement, primary and reaction are just the latest in a long chain of centrist/corporatist actions by Obama which all add up to show that he is NOT a friend of Labor, the middle/working class or even the traditional democratic party base. Change? He's changed the Democratic Party into the republicans of the 50s and 60s.

I didn't get to speak at Town Hall last night, but if Barack Obama wants a second term he has two chances: He can either embrace the working class and labor, or he can hope he gets a tea bagger opponent like Harry Reid has.

I haven't liked Obama since he backed FISA and he's done NOTHING to change my mind since he's been in office. He's an opportunist and a phony.

As an aside here, that decision points out the true genius of Dubya: Od something so apparently stupid and inept to cover your true evil intent. Harriet Myers, anyone? He never intended for her to sit on the bench. She was named as a smoke screen so he could appoint the one he wanted: Scalito. What were Democrats going to do after bitching about her? Bitch about him? Leave the opening for the, "OK, what the fuck do you want?" accusations? Like they could get off their backs and stop wishing for the belly rub from Refucks that they'll never get. Come on. Anyway...

Aside from that and his minor chiding about having to take responsibility for (the non-existence of) government, he seemed to be the picture of the disappointed dad, talking to his children who he wishes could just for a time, get along before he dies. I tried my first Brisket. I have a long way to go to learn the art of slow cooking.

Supposedly it takes 1 1/2 (give or take) hours per pound at 225 - 250 deg F. I can't get my Green Egg grill that cold and still cook. I get it hotter and it cooks too fast. A couple of months ago, I did a pork shoulder. The internal temp hadn't budged after 6 hours at the low temps.

My 8 1/2 lbs brisket was at 170 after 4 hours @ 300. It was at 210 after 10 hrs. And that time includes 4 1/2 hrs with the fire shut down, burping the heat out of the grill every 10-15 mins or so. I was planning on 14 hrs of cooking, so I could pull it off at halftime and slice it after the game. Now it's already be resting and I'll be cutting it before the fucking game. Oh well. Live and learn.

Oh well. With luck it'll turn out better then the healthcare fiasco.

I apologize. I tried it their way. I was wrong. Just as they were wrong for the 8 years of George W Bush, just as they were wrong for their policies such as the deregulation of the banks, and free trade under Bill Clinton, just as they were wrong for the institution of Ronald Reagan's voodoo economic policies, otherwise known as supply side economics, they are wrong today

I asked for republican help on stimulating the economy. After all their input, after all the amendments they proposed being attached to our stimulus bill, they voted en masse against it. They wanted a bill consisting entirely of tax cuts. Tax cuts don't help people who have no jobs and no paychecks.

I asked for their help on health care. I ignored how they made a hero out of the woman from their presidential ticket, who fabricated a total lie about "Death Panels." I ignored how a leading Senator from the state of Iowa fabricated a total lie about how our plan would force people to "pull the plug on Grandma." The same Senator, by the way, who sat on a panel to hammer out a compromise, which again, contained every amendment his party proposed.

I offered a compromise. It's called "The Public Option." The people who elected me want a universal single payer system. They, the opposition, the Republicans, want the status quo. With the additions of MORE deregulation so that insurance companies can cross state lines and duplicate the same situation we have with banking: Institutions that are too big to fail. AND... they want to take away your day in court when you are mistreated or left untreated by these same institutions. They call that "Tort Reform." Or as another of their Senators put it, "My Waterloo."

I allowed health cre reform to become my obsession, to the point where I allowed a senator who endorosed my Presidential opponent, who spoke at his party's convention, to remain in my party's caucus, and I gave in to his demands and stripped out major components that would have benefited you. All to get his support. And he was not the only one who gained such concessions.

I lost sight of the goal, of the purpose for which I was elected: To change the course of this country. To undo, or at least begin to undo, the eight plus years worth of damage done by the opposition party. I was not elected to do what the opposition allowed me to do, I was elected to lead. I was elected to lead us out of the mess in which the opposition has placed us. Instead...

I have tried my best to include them in the process of government, to which they continue to respond with obstructionism through filibustering at a record pace. I have tried to govern from the center, only to be told that the center is the far left and that the true center is the far right.

America... I honestly believed there existed on the other side of the aisles of Congress, people who would want to work with me; people who would embrace policies that would benefit their constituents. I am sorry to have to admit that I was deluded.

America... You elected me on the promise of Change... Change we can believe in. The change you wanted: New and different policies, is not the change you got: Compromise.

There is a movement in this country, I'm sure you've noticed... They want their country back. There was an election recently in the state of Massachusetts... I'm sure you've heard... Congratulations, by the way, Senator Brown. Before that, there was an election in rural New York state... you may not have heard. I have heard from all three.

There is a portion of scripture that says, "...be ye hot or cold, if you are lukewarm, I will spew you out of my mouth..." We have tried the far right's way; that way was rejected in November 2008. I have tried the Centrist way of compromise; that way has also been, and continues to be rejected.

America, I'm back. The president you thought you voted into office, is the president you will get from here on out. Whether that goes beyond 2012, will be totally up to you. That is if the corporations against which we fight do not get their way as now allowed by the five supreme court judges appointed by the far right opposition.

Unlike Ed Schultz, I think it might be the best chance at getting through to Obama, that we'll have, and keep his compromising, sorry ass from getting booted in 2012.

I know that when I get up and turn on the Scar and his trained seal Mika B at 5 am tomorrow, I'll hear him pontificate -- while Mika subserviently nods along -- about how this election is a referendum on Obama and his policies. He's right; it is. I think. On the other hand, he'll do what he does so often and totally miss the point -- if he indeed even aims for it -- while proclaiming that Obama's too radical and too far to the left and too partisan and how he has to get back to the center, and how he needs to concentrate on jobs, jobs, jobs... What can I say. He's a pundit, not a journalist, and he's paid by a corporation to do their bidding, so he isn't ethically bound to be honest or objective.

This health care bill is CRAP. Even the good things in it, don't kick in til years down the road. The back room deals with pharma and Ben Nelson and Mary Landrieu absolutely stink of corruption. The fines placed on employers who provide insurance that's good are dehumanizing. No more denials based on pre-existing conditions, just denials from overpricing when they find out you have one. No more life time caps on services, just yearly caps. Change? Stop jerking my weenie. He and his cronies, Rham and the Baucus Caucus, took something that could have been simple and they made it so complicated it makes the Gordian knot look like a half hitch.

So any way.... What happens if we lose this seat? We lose "our 60 seat, filibuster proof majority." No we don't. We never had one. It's been a myth. Lieberman's a refuckyoucan by any sensible measure and Nelson and the other blue dogs, are showing their true colors as well. The flip side of Dems not having 60 seats is that the assholes on the other side don't have 60 either. So.... no matter what sort of shitheadulousness this guy espouses, none of it will come to pass. Unless the dems roll over and allow it. You know, like they did with FISA. And Iraq. And tax cuts. and...

Obama's greatest fault as I've seen it has been his Quixotic pursuit of the mythical bipartisanship. The refucks simply have NO interest in dealing with the dems. Obama needs to pull his head out of his ass and acknowledge this FACT. He needs to realize that the people who elected him did not want him snuggling up with corporations. Remove regulation ie allow them to sell insurance across state lines.
End your right to a day in court ie tort reform.

Tort reform is bullshit. Most of the "frivolous" law suits refucks talk about are people suing to get insurance companies and doctors to do what they're supposed to do. Remove the profit motive from healthcare/insurance -- a public option / medicare expansion -- and those suits go away. In NO state that has done it's own form of tort reform has insurance cost gone down.

The supposed "competition across state lines" would lower prices... temporarily... as the big companies undersold the small ones and the non profits and coops so they could bankrupt them and swallow them up. Look at banking. Worked out Oh so well, right? end of discussion.

In the first year, more of your money will start going where it belongs: towards your care instead of excessive insurance company profits or TV ads. If a company isn’t spending enough of its premium dollars providing benefits for families, it will have to issue rebate checks to its customers to make up the difference.
In the first year, all insurance plans will have to begin covering preventive services, helping to shift our health care from just sickness to wellness. If you purchase insurance on your own, you will receive preventive care from your doctor without paying a co-pay.
In the first year, seniors will see major relief in paying for prescription drugs. The gap in coverage with Medicare, the so-called "donut hole," will start to close for good.

This bill will reduce premiums for your family, shifting the balance of power from your insurance company back to you.

Health reform extends coverage to 30,000,000 Americans without adding a dime to the Federal deficit. In fact, it represents the largest reduction to the deficit in well over a decade.

The final bill hasn't taken shape yet. There are several more steps in the process, and the President is committed to making it the best bill possible to provide security for those who have insurance and affordable, quality coverage for those who don't.

Full disclosure: I was/am a Dennis Kucinich supporter. You lost any hope of my support when you defended and voted to destroy the Bill of Rights via the FISA retooling. A Constitutional scholar? Say again? All that being said...

You NEED to drop this "centrist" approach of yours. This pursuit of mythical bi-partisanship. The republicans have not and will not ever work with you in any way that would help common citizens, working/middle class Americans in any meaningful way. They won't. You need to come to grips and recognize that fact. The more you give in to them, the more they will demand and in the end, they will STILL vote against you.

This health care bill is a disaster. ALL of the republican efforts and amendments have the intent of making this bill a failure. They cannot and will not allow a bill that would go against their view of limited government. They cannot allow a bill that would disprove the Reagan view that "Government is the problem, not the solution." Success by our measure -- and I say "our" in the dwindling hope that you are indeed a liberal? -- is a failure in theirs. And that is reality.

This bill is going to levy fines -- you call them excise taxes -- on 40% of the health care plans in existence now. Sign it and you will be LOWERING the quality of care for all of those people. And what happens when the fines dry up? When those employers drop their good coverage for garbage so they can avoid the fine? Your program will go broke. It will FAIL. Republican victory.

You have SAID, if you could start from scratch, you would go with single payer. STAND YOUR GROUND. Back up your words. People... liberal... progressive... centrist even.... WILL support you. You're dying at the polls NOT because you're not moving to the right/center, but because you ARE! If any one is telling you otherwise, FIRE them!!!

I have called my Senators and Representative that if they vote for this bill, I will NOT vote for them. I will not vote for you if you sign it. You will give government back over to the republicans who created the mess we're in. If that makes you happy, go for it.

In a 51-48 vote on cloture, 30 democratic senators, Murray and Cantwell included, voted with 18 republicans to BLOCK an amendment that would have allowed for prescription drugs to be imported into the US at cheaper prices. 48 - 30 = 18 meaning that ==> 22 refuckyoucans actually voted FOR something that would have benefited ordinary citizens.

BOTH Senators received voice mails from me registering my disgust and displeasure and my clear intent to withhold voting for them in future elections. I won't vote refuckyoucan; but I won't vote for them. Obama is working extra hard to write a legacy of , "Oh what could have been; what we almost had," and these two seem more than happy to help him along, by taking positions in direct opposition to what their party SHOULD represent.

Don't give me carap about these drugs not being safe; we're not talking about more sit from China. We're talking USDA approved drugs; drugs that are in many cases produced here and exported to be sold overseas at prices lower than what we pay here. A Canadian pharmacist can sell drugs here at a discount and still make money.

There is no safety issue; where are the dead Canadians? The dead Europeans? ???

When is enough, enough? This post isn't concerned with facts, it's a prediction of the conservatard/refuckyoucan view of Obama's escalation.

Obama had basically three choices for Afghanistan:

1) Leave.

2a) Stay and continue to put it on Mastercard/Visa like Dubya

2b) Stay and pay for it.

In the first case, that would be worse than "dithering." As Dubya showed so brilliantly, thought has no place in Presidential decidering. Leaving would be showing the world we're weak. Emboldening terrists all over the world. Akin to putting terrist criminals on trial. Or not torturing them. Pussy stuff.

In the second case, it matters not that Dubya, following in Reagan's ghostly footsteps, did it, Obama would be fiscally irresponsible. We should all know by now that Tax and spend liberals are responsible for refuckyoucan debt.

The third case, well... Tax and spend. Says it all. Obama's just using the war as an excuse to raise taxes and grow government.

It's impossible for any decision Obama makes to be correct. Totally impossible.

Fuck.

If you happened to be listening to the NorMan GoldMan radio show tonight, you may have heard me. Twas I who addressed the issue of Mike Huckabee's role/responsibility in the aftermath of the executions of four Lakewood, WA Police officers.

If Huckabee is any kind of a man at all, he will admit he fucked up. He will admit that if it was Maurice Clemmons who shot the officers, had he not been granted a commutation and then released from prison, these officers will still be alive. He will not say he's sorry; he will ask forgiveness. And there is a difference; a HUGE difference.

He may have had what he thought were good reasons at the time; I can accept that. He could not know the future; I realize that. Never the less, HE freed the man. HE made this possible.

Any weasling, any waffling, any attempts to deflect or duck responsibility, and Huckabee will take a place at Dubya's right hand as a target of my contempt and derision. not a place of honor to say the least.

I just finished taking your survey, and I have some issues. I know that just like multiple choice tests, multiple choice surveys are difficult to construct: the answers provided often do not adequately apply to or express the respondents' situations.

I have had good health insurance for the past 12 years. The price has kept going up, but I have had no issues with its coverage. I understand it will be classified as a "Cadillac Plan," which is a GROSS mischaracterization. It is neither luxurious nor extravagant. I still pay copays; many things are covered at percentages; it includes lifetime caps, but has to now -- we just changed from Washington Employers Trust, to Cigna -- covered pre-existing conditions. I pay $60.28, twice a month which is %20 of the cost, and that includes dental and vision as well as medical, for a total cost of $7234.80/year, FOR MYSELF.

Now under the Baucus Caucus / Gang of Six proposal, my employer would be FINED, because he treats me too well. He gives me crappier coverage, he no longer pays the FINE. Further, the "funding" to provide for whatever public option there might be goes away, which is a recipe for disaster, which as anyone knows is exactly what the Reaganite Republicans want: Government HAS to be a problem; it CANNOT be a solution. You already know that.

I WANT reform, but not THIS reform. In theory, my coverage will remain relatively unaffected, but if my boss gets selfish or offended or simply cannot afford the imposed FINES, my coverage will get worse. It's like passing a highway bill that assures every city will have a bridge that will fall down.

In theory, I agree with a public option, and the idea that "if you like what you have, you can keep it," but what's not being said is that if you don't like what you have -- can we say Walmart? -- you are F*cked.

In theory, I approve of the expansion of Medicaid, but since that is a mandate to states, who are going broke, I disapprove.

Now I TOTALLY disapprove of the "Opt-out" provisions which put unfortunate people at the mercy of morons like Rick Perry and Mark Sanford and the Democratic candidate who lost in VA while promising he would opt out. I TOTALLY disapprove of allowing insurance companies to sell across state lines. True, this would initially lower costs, while the big boys slash prices to squeeze out little guys, but in the end it will create companies that are too big to fail. Just like banking deregulation. I TOTALLY disapprove of Republican ideas of tort reform, since they take away our right to a day in court in many cases merely to force insurers to do what we pay them to do.

I WANT reform, but not THIS reform. I agree with you and Thom Hartmann and Dennis Kucinich and Jim McDermott and others (who I wish would form a third party that actually represents People not corporations): Single payer/Medicare Part E.
