I much more than heartily agree.

When Barack "moves to the center," and "stands up to the far left of the party," by embracing and justifying Fascist-Nazi-Totalitarian bullshit like FISA, there's everything a person needs to know about how close to the abyss this party really is. I've been sending back every piece of mail asking for donations, letting them know just what I think.

Kucinich's claim to fame from his mayoral days was to refuse to sell the public utilities to make payments on public debt. He got crucified and kicked to the curb for many years. My brother in law (the one I respect) who grew up and lived in Ohio thinks DK is nuts. Public utilities should ALWAYS be exactly that: Public. -ly owned and operated.

Free markets are anything but. They legalize and promote, piracy and extortion. Corporations will cut the public's collective throat for peanuts. They live for deregulation and lawlessness.

I've been telling people for months if not years: If you want to see an example of the Neo-con wet dream, look at Iraq. Contractor immunity? Minimal corporate taxes? A disbanded civil service? Army? Police force? Gimme a fucking break.

The rational (liberal) mind looks at those issues as scandalous fuck-ups, when in the "neo-con reality" they are rousing success stories of the journey into democracy. And being water-boarded with single malt isn't torture.

I really fucked up, not listening to Rachel Maddow when she filled in for Keith O the other night. I know it's just her sitting, doing the reading of shit that's written for her (unless I need an education on how these shows are done), but still, gay or not, she's a babe and wicked smart to boot. Congress, the Senate in particular, sensing our pain in this refuckyoucan free market created mortgage crisis, is planning a 15.3 Billion buck housing stimulus bill. And yes it is bull shit. Your first clue? That it's described as a stimulus.

We should all know by now, that's just refuckyoucan code for tax incentive/relief... tax breaks for the rich. Seriously folks, how many people will stay in their homes because they get to deduct a hundred or a few grand from there taxable incomes? How many people do you know who can afford to wait that long? I doubt it's very many. Add to that that it's only 3.3 of the total that's going to dribble down their legs to homeowners anyway. The rest?

Of courrrrrrse... it all goes to businesses. A big ol' hearty DUH to all you fuckers who couldn't answer that. But wait... there's more:

Remember the refuckyoucan sponsored bankruptcy reforms from the bill Frist era? The ones that ensured the medical/insurance/pharmaceutical megalith would get their money? Well the refucks have kept to the spirit of times past and ensured that dumbassed activist bankruptcy judges will be putting these forecloseable homes into foreclosure and their occupants into the streets where they damn well fucking belong.

So people in bankruptcy don't deserve help; they got there through their own stupidity; they deserve to be fucked? I'm not going to say no one has ever taken advantage of the system. Plenty of people simply cannot/will not learn to live within their means. Not that anyone in MY family would... never mind.

Yes. The wife and I went through a Chapter 13, brought on by both 1) my student loan bills and 2) our credit card debt. However... Much of the problem with the credit cards was their repeatedly changing her mailing address, sending bills to places her daughter hadn't lived at for several years (black holes) and then after her missed payments charging ridiculous late fees and raising her interest rates. I mean when a bill goes up, even when you haven't used the card in 6 years... Come on. That's because the game -- even before the Frist Reformation -- had the rules written in their favor.

A lot of Americans like to champion the idea of "second chances." Whether it be consider Pet Rose, Barry Bonds or Shoeless Joe Jackson for the hall of fame, pardon Scooter Libby, or keep Dubya, Dick and Donny -- the Asses of Evil -- off the gallows for their war crimes, there always seems to be a large element of the public willing to give people a mulligan.

Bankruptcy is an economic mulligan. It is especially important that it be kept as an option for people who go bankrupt through no fault of their own. Specifically through catastrophic medical expenses; hence the outright criminal cruelty of the Frist Reforms to get the pound of flesh for his family's Hospital Corporation of America. It was bad enough when lawyers wrote the law, but I digress. One of the important aspects of bankruptcy, or at least what used to be an important component, was that they could not take your home or means to income. Usually they would not even take your car.

Lest I forget, cuzz I know there's someone out there thinking the banks, lenders and credit card people need to be protected from us consumers...: Why did only 40% of our debt get claimed/acknowledged? Actually, I'm not even sure we had to pay off that much, and that was simply because NO ONE responded to demand payment. Riiiiight. They need protection from actually needing to get off their asses and work. (Oddly enough, Sears always shows up to both demand payment Plus offer a new credit card!)

So in the end, all this bill does is pave the way for a second generation of Hoovervilles by throwing people out of their homes. Only this time, they're going to be Democratic Hoovervilles.

When the fuck will they learn? This is so fucking transparent. These spineless dick drippings KNOW that these breaks to business simply do not fucking work. They didn't work when Hoover tried them; they didn't work for Reagan; and they haven't been working for Dubya. Unless by working you mean keeping rich fucks rich and poor folks poor. In that respect they've been a phenomenal success. So why then continue to do them?

So Dubya can't call them names? Blame them for HIS failures? Make it look like they're doing something? Yo... Fuckwads... we did not send you to DC to act as enablers for a dry drunk asshole.

2 Cents on Torture or Listening to Repug Excuses

Last night I was watching someone interview some guy from the Raygun administration. Dan Abrams I think; can't remember the Raygun guy's name. I'm sure it's over at Crooks and Liars somewhere, or U-tube. Anyway they were arguing about the destroyed torture tapes and the Repug keeps insisting that the torture was OK, because it saved lives; possibly thousands. Riiiight.

Of course I proceed to bitch to everyone who can hear me, which is no one, since the peoples in the TeeVee can't really hear, about what a moron the guy is. How would he, could he possibly prove any lives were saved? He can't; all the evidence is destroyed. Of course why someone would destroy exonerating evidence is beyond me, and I'm sure beside any Repug's point, but then the Repugs aren't driven by reason or logic, so...

The guy asks Abrams how many lives would he like to sacrifice so we can say we don't torture; what city or site he would be willing to see destroyed. Of course no one, himself included, can name a plot to destroy anything, anywhere or anyone, but Repugs never have anything to prove. If they say it's so, then we're expected to believe them, and if we don't, we hate America. They break the law and lie about it for our own good; it's not their fault we can't see that. Besides...

WE cannot prove that lives were NOT saved. Just as Sadaam could not prove that he did NOT have weapons. Just as Iran cannot prove that they are NOT developing nukes. Somehow they've turned the principals of language and logic on their heads and determined that all those double negatives add up to positives and thus they are exonerated. DCups hubby the Mathman might be more able to explain how it's difficult if not actually impossible to, "disprove the negative." My math/logic skills are rusty, but think for a moment: Prove you aren't gay. "You're just in denial." "You just aren't out of the closet yet." blah blah blah Virtually can't be done.

Of course all that skirts the real issue which is that it doesn't mater what was on those tapes to begin with. Simply destroying them violated court orders and thus broke the law.

I should apologize to the fine folks at Crooks and Liars, who gave me a super gift by plugging my blog on Sunday. Virtually anyone in my blogroll would have been far more deserving than I. I also want to apologize to all those who stopped by and were totally underwhelmed by either the quality or quantity of content here. I mean, Thank You for coming, but I'm sorry I didn't bake a cake or anything. All right... I can't bake, but I can grill and I could have rotisseried a chicken for you with what turned out to be an excellent Creole rub, taken from the Barbecue Bible:

3 tbs Paprika
2 tbs Salt
1 tbs Garlic Powder
1 tbs Onion Powder
1 tbs Black Pepper
1 tbs Cayenne Pepper
1 tbs Dried Oregano
1 tbs Thyme

I only used half the pepper called for and substituted white pepper for the black (which the wife doesn't really like). It could have been a tad bit hotter for my taste, but the wife, Ms Thing and the grandmonster all liked it. I think the M-I-L liked it too, but if I asked her, she won't remember. Oh well. One thing I was tempted to add was a tbs of ground cumin. Any way...
