Good Bye Mr Gibbs Updated*

I'm not impressed with your health care reform... Medicare Part D take two. No controls, no constraints, just shovel our hard earned money into their open accounts. Financial reform that ends "too big to fail" by leaving the banks as big as there were, and setting up a fund to give us pennies, at best, on our dollars when their "financial innovations" prove out to be the fraudulent schemes they are. There isn't enough money in the entire world to cover the derivatives and credit default swaps. It all reminds me of what Micheal Pollan called "edible food-like substance." Let's call Obama negotiated products what they are: Marketable Reform-like Substances.
A couple of days ago we heard non-stop outrage over the murders of aid workers in Afghanistan. Today we have a military tribunal -- like the ones Obama was going to revamp -- at Guantanamo -- the place Obama was going to have closed -- come down with a decision... A fifteen year old boy, probably with the belief he was fighting his enemy, accused of throwing a hand grenade into a group of soldiers, killing some. He was presented with a confession that he was told to sign, or face being raped until he bled to death. the confession -- coerced -- was accepted.
I'm not in favor of murder, of anyone, by anyone, but who is the terrorist here? The boy? Or the interrogator? Fuck, I'd sure as hell sign a confession to something I didn't do to avoid that threat.
That is NOT the way our legal system was ever intended to operate. What moral high ground do we have to protest any other nation's outrageous behavior. I'm probably reserving my room at Gitmo by writing this, but that is NOT what I voted for in any election since 2000; certainly not in 2008. "Change we can believe in."

Let's Re-Convene Nuremburg
Poor judgment. That what an associate something or other in the Obama inJustice Department has found. And here I'd been thinking that the rejected finding of Professional Misconduct was wishy washy and crockshitleeishious.
The mothfuckers wrote opinions that essntially said that war crimes are legal; when the US does them. Torture is not torture; when the US does it. Take away John McCain's "hero" badge. He wasn't tortured. He was enhancedly interrogated.
We had a Harvard MBA running up record deficits, "running the government like a business."
We now have a "Constitutional Scholar" taking the treatment of prisoners (of war) back to the Dark Ages, so we can "look forward, not back." So much for Nuremberg; so much for the Andersonville Trial. I guess Hitler's advisors exercised "poor judgment" as well? ???

Terrorism, Crotch Bombs... here's the real deal
Miranda, Schmiranda... The refucks are pissed because he wasn't tortured.

Why?
Obama/Democratic regime joins the war crimes crowd, it seals the deal on Bush: Prosecute him, you have to prosecute yourself. And with the new highs/lows of hypocrisy reached and exceeded on a daily basis by the refucks, there's nothing to say that they wouldn't call for the impeachment of Obama based on his doing what Bush did. Except Bush kept us safe. After leaving us open.
All the arguments about information gathering and enemy combatant versus criminal... they all mean nothing. The arguments are based in the refucks trying to justify the war crimes they've committed. The ones that Obama, with the approval of many democrats sitting in Congress now and back then, has pardoned de facto.
The case is very similar to The Khalid Sheikh Muhammad trial. Security is not the issue. Cost is not the issue. The issue is that no one wants the truth of how KSM was treated while in custody to see the light of day. Again, it's Both the refucks who claim credit for their war crimes keeping us safe -- after their ignoring the threats of attack -- And the dems who never raised a peep to stop them.
And while I'm at it...
Aaron Schock certainly is a rising refuckyoucan star. He lies like all the rest. When Mr Schock said refuckyoucans were never consulted regarding the stimulus bill...? Mr Schock is a GOD DAMNED LIAR. It was smaller than it needed to be. Because of refuckyoucan input. It contained a bunch of worthless costly tax cuts. Because of refuckyoucan input. All in all and then some, it contained over 150 refuckyoucan amendments. Democrats don't write refuckyoucan amendments. He's also stupid: Does he really believe that more of the same fuckng tax cuts that did nothing to create jobs and only created massive deficits and funding shortfalls will somehow suddenly do what they've never ever done? Does he think that we are supid enough to think that tax cuts will help us when we don't have jobs and pay checks on which to even pay taxes?

And finally... Jobs bill or no jobs bill, people get hired because there is work to be done. NO ONE gets hired because of a fucking tax break. The millions of jobs that moved to China didn't go there in one year, or even one presidential term, and they are NOT going to come back as the result of one bill, or in one year or in one presidential term. They are not going to come back because of lower corporate taxes. They will come back only when it becomes more profitable.

It IS.... ALWAYS... a bad thing. If we don't want steel made over here because steel isn't a "green industry," then we need to develop a green steel mill.
We need to re-institute tariffs. We need protectionism. I don't care if say Hewlitt Packard is an American owned company. If the want to make their products in China, those products should be taxed and taxed heavily when they're imported. And no more calling a shirt made by Chinese slaves in the Marianas, "Made in America," because the tag in the collar is made in America and it's more profitable for Tom DeLay and his slime ball buddies.

When is enough, enough? This post isn't concerned with facts, it's a prediction of the conservatard/refuckyoucan view of Obama's escalation.
Obama had basically three choices for Afghanistan:
1) Leave.
2a) Stay and continue to put it on Mastercard/Visa like Dubya
2b) Stay and pay for it.
In the first case, that would be worse than "dithering." As Dubya showed so brilliantly, thought has no place in Presidential decidering. Leaving would be showing the world we're weak. Emboldening terrists all over the world. Akin to putting terrist criminals on trial. Or not torturing them. Pussy stuff.
In the second case, it matters not that Dubya, following in Reagan's ghostly footsteps, did it, Obama would be fiscally irresponsible. We should all know by now that Tax and spend liberals are responsible for refuckyoucan debt.
The third case, well... Tax and spend. Says it all. Obama's just using the war as an excuse to raise taxes and grow government.
It's impossible for any decision Obama makes to be correct. Totally impossible.
Fuck.
I want the easiest job in the world: Senate Refuckyoucan.

O'Donnell brings up Goldwater, because Goldwater ALSO accused the CIA of lying to him over aspects of the Reagan-HWBush Iran-Contra affair: the mining of Nicarauguan harbors. Of course because there's a Democrat making accusations, all of a sudden the CIA is a bastion of truth and honesty (Orwellian style?), and Goldwater by 1984 was no longer a true conservative.

They have neutralized this nation's moral compass. They have turned one of the greatest documents of all time, the Constitution, into toilet paper, and the government it once defined into a Banana Republic.

Cheney Being Cheney...
I keep hearing lots of wonderings about the motives behind Dick Cheney's Magical Media Tour. Is he trying to Piss in the jury pool as Thom Hartmann puts it? Is he trying to double dog dare the Dems and call their bluff? Or shame them into doing things his way? Is doing this out of fear? Malice? Some sense of duty?
So many theories; so little time. Sometimes we over complicate things, and avoid the simple explanation right beneath our nose. I believe we're doing that now.
As a child, studying and reading history, about tyrants, dictators, despots and the pain, suffering and wars they created, one of the ideas that seemed to always be implied if not stated outright was:
It's this same idea that leads to the Bushian idea that democracies are automatically stable and good. We've fought a lot of wars to keep the peace and make the world safe for democracy. Destroyed a lot of villages to save them. If there's evil in the world, it 's not us.
I've said for a long time now that Dubya's genius was encapsulated in his idiot persona. It was an act, formulated to be a smoke screen for his evil nature, intent and actions. Cheney on the other hand has never made the slightest effort to disguise his nature. Shoot a guy in the face? Hush it uo and wait for him to apologize. The American people don't think the Iraq war has been worth it in blood, treasure, etc. "So?"

Pushback? Against What?
Push back during sex, is one thing. I mean, unless you believe the woman should just lie back, spread and take it without moving...
I'm not so sure the Refuckyoucan crew at Faux Noise didn't purposely pick Mother's Day as their day to talk about pushback against theDemocratic American efforts to investigate and prosecute those who created, justified, promoted etc the Bush crime family's enhanced interro torture (don't be squeamish... say it with me... you can do it) program. The latest talking point is that because Nancy Pelosi, and other Dems, knew about the techniques/program that we should back off from any actions. An idea to which I give a resounding

The Cheney-ista's idea that because we got "good information," their actions were/are justified, is an idea that could not even come to light without bordering on lawbreaking. It is a felony: Treason, to reveal classified information. Pelosi may be an accomplice in that she approved torture; she MAY be an accomplice. She would definately have been a felon if she had gone public with information from classified briefings/documents.
Pelosi, Reid, Rockefeller... whoever, knowing about this matters not. I honestly do not fucking care. Not one whit. How else can I say it? This is a program, an episode in American history that should NOT have existed. Those who took part in it, MUST be prosecuted.
We just recently shipped a former Nazi prison guard off to face prosecution for war crimes. 29,000 counts of being an accomplice to murder, if my memory serves. He was a guard. Like Linndie England and Charles Graner. He was following orders. Like the CIA interrogators. Acting "in good faith" that what he was doing was necessary for the defense of his country. Unlike the FBI agents who walked out... refusing to take part in the torture.
But he was on the losing side: "Their" side. Is that what reeeeeeally makes the difference?
What else am I missing here?
Investigations, Truth Commissions... anything short of prosecutions, in the same courts, under the same laws that apply to the lowliest of all of the rest of us "little people," is pure bull shit. It's obvious that Bush and his crew wanted to skirt US and international law. The Cheney-ista's idea that because we got "good information," their actions were/are justified, is an idea that could not even come to light without bordering on lawbreaking. It is a felony: Treason, to reveal classified information. Pelosi may be an accomplice in that she approved torture; she MAY be an accomplice. She would definately have been a felon if she had gone public with information from classified briefings/documents.
Pelosi, Reid, Rockefeller... whoever, knowing about this matters not. I honestly do not fucking care. Not one whit. How else can I say it? This is a program, an episode in American history that should NOT have existed. Those who took part in it, MUST be prosecuted.
We just recently shipped a former Nazi prison guard off to face prosecution for war crimes. 29,000 counts of being an accomplice to murder, if my memory serves. He was a guard. Like Linndie England and Charles Graner. He was following orders. Like the CIA interrogators. Acting "in good faith" that what he was doing was necessary for the defense of his country. Unlike the FBI agents who walked out... refusing to take part in the torture.

Aitch Dub
Where to start with this guy. The Father of Fear-Mongering and Division. Willie Horton anyone? A preznitial campaign where he not only said nothing positive about his opponent, he said nothing positive about himself. This is the guy who turned me off to all things republican. His mythical Thousand Points of Light, Compassionate Conservatism, The Education President... there's a good one.
I was in college when Aitch Dub got elected. I remember him cutting funds for student loans, raising their interest rates and ending the income tax deduction for student loan interest. What a guy.
He couldn't wait to go to war with Saddam. Of course if he had waited, let diplomacy run its course and all that good shit, US approval of Saddam's going into Kuwait in the first place would have come to light. More importantly though, there would have been nothing to distract our attention, even if only temporarily, from the fact that he was totally inept at running the country. "I don't really like domestic policy." I can remember that one just as clearly as, "I'm not prepared to say we're in a recession." I can hear his whiny nasally voice in my head as clearly as if he was standing next to me.
A lot to live down. and then...

Palin's in Alaska to see her son off to Iraq -- her announcement of which puts he and his unit in greater danger, him being the son of a potential VPilf.
Present Vice is in an undisclosed location no doubt. Shooting someone in the face?
Senator surge is probably doddering about somewhere wondering where the recent crowds have gone as he tries to re-caste himself as an enemy of his own agenda. How is it that he can say his VPilf is a heroine for taxing the oil companies, when he wants more tax cuts for them? and for other corporations as well? ???
Dubya.... where's Dubya today? ??? Reading "My Pet Goat" to someone somewhere? Does he wear a diaper today or stay within 25 feet of a shit house all day? Do the memories make him re-live his pants-shitting-wetting?

Change I'm Not Sure I Want to Believe In
So Barack opposes the guaranteed immunity for the telecoms. And he's going to fight to get it dropped from the bill when it goes to the Senate. Whooptee-fuckin-doo. Cuzz if it doesn't get dropped, he'll still vote for the fucking bill. Yoah... Douchnozzle...
1) You're making a very dangerous assumption that you'll be the next prez, and will be calling the shots on surveillance. You're underestimating the refucks' abilities to steal elections as they have in '00 and '04.
1a) You assume that there will even BE an election; that boy king George will actually leave office.
2) Dangerous assumption #1 is made all the more dangerous by the fact that he who might benefit from a stolen election is shit stain McCain. He's corrupt to his very core and without a doubt will be just as crooked as Dubya if not more so. No telling who the fuck he'll go after with secret wire taps. You cannot make this power available to him.
3) You're assuming that you're immune to the corrupting powers of power. NO ONE is that good and pure. By failing to honor your oath to defend the constitution, you prove yourself to already be corrupt.
4) The most dangerous assumption of all: You seem to be assuming that over the next 212 days of Dubya's term, that he won't be able to do any more damage to the country with this. Are you fucking serious? The worst and most corrupt president in the nation's history? Is going to have some kind of a come to Jesus moment and suddenly start to behave?
From day one, my biggest complaint about Barack was that he seemed to be naive. I was beginning to think otherwise. Until now.

BOHICA folks
I have yet to ever listen to one of Dubya's weekend radio addresses. I don't know what, if any, local station carries them, and I don't care to find out. I go through this tearing of emotions: On the one hand I don't believe he has anything worthwhile to say; on the other hand it's important to keep up with what he plans to fuck up from day to day. Regardless of my mood, I usually can't listen or watch him for more than two to three minutes before I'm screaming and cursing (literally) at what a piece of shit he is. As much as I want to take a baseball bat to his head to get rid of that god damned smirk, there's a reason he wears it:
He knows he's lying virtually every time he speaks; he knows we know he's lying; he knows that we know that he knows we know; he doesn't give a fuck, because he knows he'll get away with it.
While doing my weekly, weekend catch up, I came across Glenn Greenwald's advanced copy of this weekend's address. Gizz Whiz wants to modernize FISA. Great. Ignoring the fact -- for now -- that he wants to legalize his crimes, the fact that he wants to push this through before Congress goes on break, takes me back to the initial passing of theunpatriot act, when he took his first major steps toward becoming dictator. I'll give credit where credit is due: somewhere there's a pretty good speech writer who laid out some fairly logical points. However, said writer fell asleep at the wheel and allowed this point to get in there:

It doesn't presently protect our privacy interests? I thought the FISA court guaranteed that. Ahhhhh.... but he doesn't want to have to get court orders. As many times as I read this, I cannot wrap my head around it. Maybe that's a good thing; a sign my brain still works.
Anyone with a brain that's been functioning for the past six years has to realize that he'll just do whatever the fuck he wants, no matter how the law might be rewritten. He's lied about his actions before, and I have no illusions of him growing a conscience. He wants to tap our phones; he wants to read our e-mails. He's more interested in our moves than in any moves of any suspected terrorists. BEFORE 9-11 we had a shortage of people in our intelligence agencies who spoke Arabic, Farsi, and other critical languages, and he's fired many of the few we had because they were gay or of some wrong political stripe. More information, means more backlog. He wants information on US, not them.

Another Conservative Against Bush
Wednesday I wrote about a conservative guest on the Thom Hartmann show; Thursday, although I did not write about it, Hartmann had another conservative guest. Both spoke of the need to impeach both Bush and Cheney. Today via Crooks and Liars, I discovered another article posted by a conservative, who is highly critical of Bush and the republicans, and fearful for the future of our democracy. One of the focal points of this article is the "need" for another 9-11 event to ensure the survival of the republican party in the next election. Sorry for the lack of a link, but the chairman of the Arkansas Republican Committee has already called for another terrorist attack. I firmly believe that this has been discussed and planned by the powers behind the throne.
I wouldn't call myself a conspiricist but, I've always had questions about what happened on 9-11. I've always found it curious that the twin towers fell more like they were imploded by demolition experts, rather than breaking off from the points at which they were damaged. I've heard Ed Schultz argue/preach many times how there is no way that the government could have been behind the attack in any way, but I'm not so sure. When I look at the ways this administration has relentlessly attacked the structure of this country from within, weakening our military, our economy, our alliances, the Constitution and Bill of Rights... I really can't think of a point at which they'll stop or a line they won't cross. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I firmly believe Bush will make himself dictator by 2008/9.
One common thread connects the men behind these three articles: They all worked in the Reagan Administration.
I've heard and read, time and again, how the republican party is no longer the party of Barry Goldwater, as if that's a reference to some rosier time of moderation. I was 8 yrs old when Goldwater got trounced by Johnson. Goldwater was an extremist kook. I remember the neighbor kids whose dad voted for Goldwater saying how Kennedy was a wimp because he didn't want to invade Cuba during the missile crisis like Goldwater did. Time and again we hear and read about the "good old days" of moderate conservatism under Reagan; as if. Bushco is virtually nothing more than the culmination of the desires and intents of the Reaganistas; Reaganism without checks and balances.
Reagan talked about failed government: The government is not your friend. Government is not the answer. The most feared words in the English language: We're from the government and we're here to help. Bush has brought government failure to life and made it flourish. My point being, that when hardcore Reaganistas, authors of Reaganist policies, decide that Bush has gone too far, when will the republicans elected to Congress wake up and realize for themselves that their unquestioned alignment with Bush is destroying the country? When will they realize that they're just like the frog in the pot of water, allowing themselves to be boiled alive, as the temperature slowly creeps up to boiling?
I realize there's an inherent shame in having to own up to mistakes, much like some women I've known, refusing to admit to themselves that the years and efforts spent in a dead end destructive relationship were a waste. There hopefully does come a time though, when mistakes are admitted, blame shouldered, losses accepted and shame dealt with. The past remains unchanged, but healing can begin and the present and future can be salvaged. If the repugs in congress do not wake up soon, it will be too late; there will be nothing to salvage. Time is running out. For the Repugs and for the country.
